Conditions for inadvertent and destructive wildfires are increased dramatically when the temperature (in degrees Celsius) rises above the relative humidity in the air. Significant wind further raises the risk. We have reached those conditions in the Village.
Studies have shown that the spread of wildfires into structural fires is often caused by embers flying through the air and landing on dry fuel rather than simply by direct flame impingement.
Because of these very dry conditions and increasing temperatures, the Village of Caronport has declared that a 𝙁𝙄𝙍𝙀 𝘽𝘼𝙉 be in 𝙚𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙘𝙩 𝙞𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 within the Village.
𝙉𝙤 𝙤𝙣𝙚 shall be allowed to start an open fire until conditions improve. This includes the lighting of 𝙗𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙨, 𝙘𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙨, 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠𝙮𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙨, 𝙏𝙞𝙠𝙞 𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨, 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙨 and 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨 . Propane and natural gas barbecues may still be used but as always should be 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙚𝙙.
This ban shall be 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 when 𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 has become a reality and shall be communicated through the Village Office.
Thank you,
