Dear Residents of Caronport,
While the Village of Caronport currently is not under a fire ban we ask that you please use extreme caution while enjoying your outdoor fire pits.
Please ensure:
1. Fires are lit only in designated fire pits that are within Village policy guidelines
2. Fires are always attended by at least one responsible adult
3. A garden hose or extinguisher is kept ready nearby
4. Fires are completely extinguished before leaving the scene
5. No fire shall be lit if there are windy conditions. (If you wonder if it is too windy, it is...)
Studies have shown that the spread of wildfires into structural fires is often caused by embers flying through the air rather than simply by direct flame.
There is a high chance a fire ban will be put into place in the near future. Please watch our Facebook page, website and email for updates.
