Fall Greetings

Hello Caronport!

I hope you had a safe and joyful Thanksgiving weekend celebrating with family and friends the amazing blessings we have.

Fall weather is coming back to us after a little future look at wintery conditions. I hope there are several more weeks during which we can enjoy evening walks, talking around the fire pit, and yes, mowing and raking the yard just one more time after the last time.

Council and I have been reflecting about the values and identity of Caronport. Who are we? What do we have to offer those who live or seek to live here? What makes us unique as a village in Saskatchewan? And how do we capture that in a memorable statement. So we are holding a contest.

We would like you to create a new motto/slogan/catch-phrase that you believe best captures the heart of life in Caronport. Sort of like Swift Current's “Where Life Makes Sense.” But better!!! We could outsource this project to some company who would study us and tell us who they think we are, but we think no one can do that better than you who actually live here and make Caronport the community it was, is, and is becoming.

So spend some time thinking about Caronport. Jot down some ideas. Package it up. And submit it. You can post it on the village or community Facebook page or turn them in at the office. Council will be watching the ideas, narrow them down, and maybe have some form of shortlist we can all vote on. And yes, there is a prize to the winning submission if council believes it will best serve as our new slogan.

Have fun!
Mayor Dan
