Caronport Community Members,
As some may have heard, beginning July 1, 2018, Caronport High School will be changing its name to Briercrest Christian Academy. As members of the community surrounding Briercrest and Caronport High School, we wanted to alert you to the upcoming changes and briefly share the reasons for this change.
The new name was announced to students, parents, and alumni last Friday, May 18, and was followed by a public posting on the Briercrest website. An email from the school detailed four key reasons for the change. The name “Briercrest Christian Academy”
• Clarifies that Christian faith is core to the school's education
• Takes away confusion about the school's role within Briercrest
• More accurately reflects the current student experience
• Grows the appeal of the school to a national level
In short, this change provides an opportunity for the high school to pursue the original vision set forth for Caronport High School in 1946. This change is intended to better define the era that the school is currently in, and to more accurately reflect the past decade's ongoing efforts towards positive changes in the school's culture.
